BACKGROUND
2023 at the Morbidity Unearth festival in Copenhagen. Necropsy Odor and Mephitic Corpse from San Luis Obispo were on the bill. The kids were encountered by a drunk gentleman trying to start up a conversation about the greatness of New York hard core band Biohazards. The kids were repulsed by this moron. Not until next day at a picnic by the water in a sunny Copenhagen things were calmed down. The Biohazard episode were revealed as an jack ass joke. Instead the conversation turned to genuine interests like the greatness of Foetopsy, Artery Eruption and the Forensick album by Mexican Disgorge. During this intense death metal geek bonding ritual an upcoming DIY Scandinavia tour were mentioned, and they were instantly invited to Öland. Flyers were made and the regional newspaper picked it up and made an article. 14 May 2024 is the date of the first ÖLAND ROTS and with 150 people in attendance.
FUTURE
Since then ÖLAND ROTS has been growing steadily, new consisting of a small crew. Its still DIY fest with an minimum budget.
Our ambition is to keep ÖLAND ROTS the same way it stared but with necessary professional organization to accommodate bands and audience.
We intend keep prices as low as possible, we have no intention to milk the audience.
ÖLAND ROTS main focus is grinding death metal, but with a mixed line up of different types of brutality. We strongly believe in booking bands that we feel are neglected in today Swedish scene.
This is not a festival for legacy acts (unless you are MORTICIAN or Impetigo). We rather books some unknown kids with youthful energy singing about corpses, rather than same old corpses staying alive on past fame. Our ambition is to spread sickness and compile the most brutal lineup (in)humanly possible.

VOLONTEER
You want to volunteer at the festival? Its always welcome, we need extra hands. Driving license and car is huge benefit, but not necessary as long as you can get here on you own. Helping hands can be needed also days before the festival starts and it ends.
